I've posted things like this before...but I think LostLifeFound might be done. I have been thinking about this since around the New Year. I would like an online presence that makes sense. I would like to post things that are really helpful to others. Or maybe entertaining or heart-warming. More likely, I'd like to focus on being the person I want to be (you know, doing things in the real world!), and that may or may not include a blog. But if I have a blog, it will probably not be this one. I'd like to stamp my name on something - an online presence that I am completely proud of. However, I love all of the history that is on here, and I am leaving it up for sure.
LostLifeFound - I was struck by this combination of words during college. I think I was trying to think of a band name, and I never started a band, but the name stuck with me. This refers to Luke 15, the chapter with the lost sheep, lost coin, and lost son, and the rejoicing that occurs in heaven when a person "returns home". However, after an adolescence of assuming that I was very much found, in college it slowly dawned that I had a lot of "finding" to do. I had wandered off the path, kind of like a Pharisee, always doing the "right things" and well within the religious institution, but somehow missing the point of faith and love. It has taken a while, but I feel like I'm on the path. And it's a lot scarier and murkier than "being religious", because it's new for me - it's relying on God's grace. So as I close the blog, it is fitting that I am living out LostLifeFound.

ReplyDeleteYou are a great guy Dan and I hope whatever you do I can get a view into it. You and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of thinks but I do use your views to challenge my own. Although I am not sure your views have swayed me I do think they have enriched me. If that makes any sense.
It is an age where people only watch and re-affirm their views with those who are like minded thus continuing their own ignorance. There are a lot of ignorant people in America. You my fiend ar NOT one of those people. I don't define ingonarce based on a person's amount of knowledge. More about the means by which they challenge the knowledge they have.
I have read many times where you have challenged your own thoughts and views. Most of the time you come out with those same positions. However you tested them. So even though I may still disagree with them I have an incredible amount of respect for your point of view and would defend your views on your behalf (even if I disagreed with them).
It is a testament to you. Keep challenging yourself. Not to come to my pov, but so you are stronger and more knowledgeable in yours.
Those of us who listen to you will always respect you for it.
