Book Review: Unforgettable Men in Unforgettable Times

This book is by Bob Boardman, a personal friend of my parents. He worked for the Navigators for many years. I have met him as well. The unique thing about him is that he speaks in a hoarse whisper, because he was shot through the throat during WWII.

During the book, he outlines the events surrounding this injury. Also, he includes many wartime and post-wartime stories about people. For example, one is about a Japanese man who stayed on an island (that the Japanese lost) in seclusion for 28 years. The book also talks about cultural things, such as how the Japanese officers committed suicide rather than being captured.

I enjoyed reading it. It was personal and interesting. And educational and inspiring.
